The Shape of Change: New Release from Education Futurist Dr. Shawn K. Smith
Last week marked the new release of Dr. Shawn K. Smith’s latest book, The Shape of Change: The Continued Journey of the Digital Convergence Framework, the second in a three-part series exploring the intersection between educational technology, personalized learning, and blended learning. The book, a sequel to The New Agenda: Achieving Personalized Learning Through Digital Convergence, examines Stage 4 and 5 of the Digital Convergence Framework, the methodology adopted by The School Superintendents Association (AASA) for successfully integrating technology in the classroom at scale.
The Shape of Change continues to reinforce Dr. Smith’s point of view about how to truly leverage technology in the classroom to transform the teaching and learning process. Dr. Smith believes improving student outcomes requires a collective, systematic, and unified approach to integrate technology at the district, rather than classroom, level. According to Dr. Smith, “The transition to personalized learning goes beyond any single person or initiative. It calls for districts to engage in a synchronized movement of people and solutions from every corner of our education system. It calls for Digital Convergence.”
Amazon began offering the electronic version of the book in mid-May. Magnusson-Skor Publishing will offer paperback and hardcover versions of the book starting late June. You can order 10 or more physical copies here. You can also download a sample of the book.
